Abstract
The experiment was concerned with the relationship between hypothesis selection in a new problem and the previous reinforcement of an hypothesis having common elements with one of the 2 hypotheses available in the new problem. "As a group the Ss showed a nonsignificant tendency to choose the hypothesis having some earlier reinforced elements." When divided into fast and slow learners, the latter showed a significantly greater choice of the hypothesis with previously reinforced elements; the former were equally divided in their choices. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
