Abstract
Because of the possible value of raising resistance to radiation in protecting individuals from total body radiation or lowering resistance in the treatment of patients with cancer, a series of studies were made on the admn. of various steroids and foreign proteins to mice before or after X-radiation. Some of the substances tested apparently affect sensitivity. Horse serum, for instance, if administered 10 days before irradiation, increases resistance, but if administered immediately after irradiation it has the opposite effect. Testosterone propionate, estradiol benzoate, stilbestrol and desoxycorticosterone (each in oil) were also tested. Keywords
