A Re-Evaluation of Arachniotus Indicus

Abstract
Type strains of Arachniotus indicus and A. indicus var. major were examined and both proved to represent Talaromyces (Penicillium) vermiculatus (Dang.) C. R. Benjamin. The re-identification was based on the presence of a penicillate conidial state. In addition, both isolates possessed garetangial initials and ascocarp and ascospore characters closely associated with T. vermiculatus.
