Abstract
Equations are presented for the natural frequencies of free vibration of closed elastic spherical shells. They are derived from a theory of shells that includes the effects of transverse, shear, and rotatory inertia. It is shown that five branches appear in the frequency spectrum, whereas only three are known to be predicted by the classical bending theory of shells. Keywords
