Abstract
Monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples of BaFe12O19 have been irradiated by 35 MeV/A krypton-ions to doses close to 1018 ions.mminus;2 and investigated by high resolution electron microscopy (HREM). The study has been devoted to the induced structural changes in the low energy range of the ions: 0 ≤ E a√3 × a√3, a√3 × a, and 2a × 2a. They have been explained on the basis of local atomic orderings probably due to the difference in strain between the amorphous and the crystalline parts of the sample. Keywords
