Abstract
Evidence for improved speech intelligibility in the presence of noise, where speech and noise arise from spatially separate sources, is reviewed both for normal listeners and hearing-aid users. When ear or hearing-aid is single, or when either is fixed so that coincident head movements do not bring about changes conducive to auditory localization, improvement in speech intelligibility is not demonstrated. In general, hearing-aid users should have the opportunity to utilize any listening system that will favor the ability to localize sounds. Keywords
