Abstract
This study describes the apparently successful treatment of a case of blepharospasm (severe eye-blink tic). The blepharospasm apparently did not respond to analytic psychotherapy which had previously been attempted. The dynamics and etiology of the symptoms seemed clear to the previous therapist, present therapist, and to the patient. Combining hypnosis and behavior therapy in a manner calculated to strengthen the ego appears to have been the critical therapeutic intervention. Keywords
