Abstract
We describe a system which makes use of the conventional means of controlling the terminal voltage of an electrostatic accelerator (FN Tandem) by shunt current from corona points. The voltage is sensed with a beam-deflection system or a generating-voltmeter (GVM) signal, or a combination of the two methods. The electronic design differs considerably from previous designs, the emphasis being placed upon functional simplicity, reliability, and ease of operation. The performanance results are indicative of the use of SF6 as a filling gas. Keywords
