Abstract
The picnic beetle, Glischrochilus quadrisignatus (Say), is common in the northern U.S. and Canada (Luckmann 1963). The adults are injurious when invading fruits and vegetables and a nuisance to people outdoors, especially when attracted to foods. The beetles are beneficial when attracted to the fermenting frass of the European corn borer; entering the tunnels, the beetles displace and sometimes injure the borers, leading to a reduction of the borer population (McCoy and Brindley 1961, Carlson and Chiang 1973). Some data on the effects of temperature on development have been presented by Luckmann (1963). This report presents further data, including the threshold and thermal constant for each developmental stage. Keywords
