Abstract
The exact susceptibility times spin-wave velocity of an isotropic spin- antiferromagnetic chain is calculated by use of the Wess-Zumino-Witten model, with Kac-Moody central charge , as the critical theory. The result, , agrees exactly with Bethe-Ansatz results for integrable models and well with numerical results (), Fisher's classical limit, and experiments on Cu · 2N () and NMn (). ( is also calculated exactly for and arbitrary planar anisotropy.) This suggests that NMn is an experimental realization of this new universality class.
