Abstract
If the affinities of enzymes for substrates and inhibitors are expressed on a log. scale (pKs or pKi) the data may be interpreted by simple rules, which are identical in form with those for oxido-reductions and phos-phorylations (Dixon, 1949). From the effect of pH upon affinities, deductions about the nature of the enzyme-Substrate or enzyme-inhibitor combination and the ionization constants of the groups involved may be drawn. Keywords
