Effect of intraosseous fat on the measurements of bone mineral of distal radius

Abstract
Intraosseous fat is one of the main sources of error in241Am bone mineral densitometry of distal radius. In this work we have calculated the magnitude of errors which are possible if the influence of fat is not taken into consideration. Without the fat correction the mineral density of distal radius is underestimated 50–60% with low-density osteoporotic bones.
