Abstract
This paper presents the conceptual framework and methodology that has been developed to perform usability evaluations of commercially available equipment for use in telemedicine applications. Specifically, the three components of the evaluation methodology, namely, technical acceptability, operational effectiveness, and clinical appropriateness, are described. This methodology was used to evaluate commercially available video-otoscope systems for use in a store-and-forward teleconsultation project. Keywords
