Abstract
Comparison principles for systems of reaction-diffusion equations coupled via both the reaction and diffusion terms are considered. The techniques are motivated by models of unmyelinated nerve fibres based on FitzHugh–Nagumo dynamics. Applications to threshold phenomena and ephaptic transmission are included. Keywords
