Abstract
The average Hb level of women of the poorer classes falls during pregnancy up to the 37th week of gestation and then rises slightly before delivery. A rise also occurs from 48 hrs. post-partum to 6-11 months after delivery. The transference of Fe from mother to fetus can be compensated by dietary iron. The blood loss at parturition may produce severe hypochromic anemia. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
