Abstract
Autumn and spring collections of physiologically abscissed black cottonwood (Populustrichocarpa Torr. & Gray) twigs rooted readily in greenhouse conditions. In the field, on sand and gravel bars in two southern British Columbia rivers, a small proportion of the widespread natural vegetative reproduction originated from such twigs. This reproduction could occur in the immediate vicinity of the parent trees, or at considerable distances downstream, resulting in some gene flow within the species, and in the extension of its range. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
