Abstract
The nature and density of the species present in the vapor state during pulsed laser evaporation of CdTe and Cd0.96Mn0.04Te have been studied as a function of laser power P. The thresholds for species ejection were 1 and 1.5 J/cm2, respectively. The generated current due to electrons is greater than that due to ions when P<2 J/cm2, and lower than the ion current when 24.0 J/cm2 the ion current decreases below the electron current intensity. Possible mechanisms which could give rise to this general behavior are discussed. Keywords
