Ejection of neutral and charged particles from CdTe and Cd0.96Mn0.04Te induced by pulsed laser irradiation

Abstract
The nature and density of the species present in the vapor state during pulsed laser evaporation of CdTe and Cd0.96Mn0.04Te have been studied as a function of laser power P. The thresholds for species ejection were 1 and 1.5 J/cm2, respectively. The generated current due to electrons is greater than that due to ions when P<2 J/cm2, and lower than the ion current when 24.0 J/cm2 the ion current decreases below the electron current intensity. Possible mechanisms which could give rise to this general behavior are discussed.
