Abstract
Comparison of the treatment outcome of 273 problem drinkers served by 7 counselors, 4 of whom (2 men and 2 women) were recovered alcoholics with an average of 6 yr of abstinence and 3 of whom (2 men and 1 woman) had no history of alcoholism, showed that positive changes in drinking behavior occurred significantly more often in young patients served by recovered alcoholics than in young patients served by nonalcoholics. This difference was not evident in patients aged 35 and over. The general level of the counseling performance of the recovered alcoholics was comparable to and in some instances better than that of the nonalcoholics. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
