Low-energy reactions with heavy deformed nuclei

Abstract
Calculations for Sm collisions that account for the deformed surfaces indicate that the threshold for nuclear reactions is about 50 MeV below the nominal Coulomb barrier. Some specific features of such low-energy collisions are discussed.
