Abstract
Subjects experiencing a pre-retirement planning program responded positively, demonstrating greater concern for and involvement in many aspects of retirement and reporting improved self-image. Data consisted of before-and-after program responses to questionnaires and tests, evaluated through χ2 contingency analysis. Better future programs with built-in longitudinal research should answer questions about time and nature of desirable content and pay off at different stages of retirement. People want and need help in planning for retirement and respond positively when they get it, but we need to know more about optimum design of such programs.
