Precision Laser Photodetachment Spectroscopy in Magnetic Fields

Abstract
Magnetic-field-dependent structure in the photodetachment cross section of negative sulfur ions has been observed. This is the first observation of such structure for any negative ion. The structure is found to be due in part to the excitation of the detached electrons to discrete cyclotron levels.Keywords
