Abstract
Enzymes were extracted from leaf material of Erigeron canadensis in a mortar and pestle with a Tris-citric acid buffer, pH 8.0 and either polyvinylpyrolidone (PVP), anion exchange resin, or cystein hydrochloride with ascorbic acid. The phenolic content of the extracts and their electrophoretic patterns for acid phosphatase (AP), malic dehydrogenase (MDH) and esterase (Est) were then examined. The samples extracted with resin had the lowest phenolic content and produced the sharpest MDH and AP patterns. The PVP extractions gave the clearest Est resolutions. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
