Phenylthiocarbamide Taste Sensitivity Survey among the Pareng Gadaba, the Ollaro Gadaba and the Konda Paroja of Koraput District, Orissa

Abstract
Following a previous report on the Bado Gadaba and the Bareng Paroja tribes of the Koraput district, Orissa, survey has been made for P.T.C. taste threshold distribution the Pareng Gadaba, the Ollaro Gadaba and the Konda Paroja in the same district. All 5 tribes are homogeneous in respect to P.T.C. taste phenotype distributions. The mean thresholds of the tasters are lower among males than among females in all of the tribes concerned except the Konda Paroja, in whom the difference is insignificant. The non-taster rates are 52.85%, 52.55%, and 53.42% respectively in the Pareng, the Ollaro and the Konda.Keywords
