Abstract
This investigation was undertaken to determine the nucleotide composition of some molds grown on synthetic medium and to compare the results with one another and with those obtained from investigations on other fungi grown out of doors under natural field conditions. The comparison between the 2 Penicillium species chosen was thought to be especially interesting as the molds show entirely different production pictures, P. daleae excreting primarily kojic acid, P. urticae only aromatic compounds. About 33 different nucleotides were isolated, most of which were fully identified. A 2''-or 3''-UMP-peptide complex not previously described was found in the P. daleae extract. The nucleotide composition of P. daleae was found to be very similar to that of P. urticae, and to those of fungi previously investigated by others. Keywords
