Abstract
Aqueous liver extracts were freed from protein by iso-electric precipitation, by alcohol, and by tannic acid. From the filtrate various fractions were precipitated by heavy metal salts. The activity is quantitatively precipitated by acid HgSO4. The active substance contains N but is not a peptide. The potency of the various fractions was determined clinically and by means of the methemoglobin-forming power.
