Abstract
THERE are no recorded cases of hypofibrinogenemia complicating the course of Rocky Mountain spotted fever. A prolonged Quick "one-stage" prothrombin time was described by Harrell1 in his excellent review of the disease. More recently, the association of thrombocytopenia2 , 3 with Rocky Mountain spotted fever has been reported. It is the purpose of this paper to describe the occurrence of severe hypofibrinogenemia and thrombocytopenia in a patient with Rocky Mountain spotted fever.Case ReportA 12-year-old girl was admitted to the University Hospital because of purpura, delirium and fever. She had been well until May 20, 1961, when she complained of headaches . . .Keywords
