Abstract
A gas liquid-solid chromatographic column (GLSC) consisting of molecular sieve 5Å coated with 10% (w/w) OV-275 silicone oil is utilized to analyze petroleum distillates, naphtha, and kerosene. This work is based on hydrocarbon group type analysis by carbon number distribution for paraffins and naphthenes; individual separation of aromatics is attained because interference from nonhydrocarbons is eliminated. Despite the short column employed in this technique, high efficiency is obtained as all complex components are eluted in 6 min for naphtha and 10 min for kerosene. Keywords
