Three "reverse engineering" codes for pulse power system design

Abstract
Three "reverse engineering" codes are described in which an unknown parameter of a driving circuit is calculated from a completely specified load. They have application to general pulse power as well as ICF systems design. Two of the codes model electrical circuits. The first calculates the unknown voltage waveform needed to drive a transmission line circuit to produce a desired (load) voltage downstream. The second code calculates the unknown impedance profile of a pulse charged PFL instead. The transmission line circuit in each case may contain non-linear elements. The third code calculates the ballistic transport of ions in reverse. The code models an arbitrarily defined diode driving a transport channel and target. It calculates the diode voltage required to produce a desired power versus time profile at the target. The known limitations of each code are discussed.Keywords
