Abstract
Electron spin resonance spectra of polycrystalline N2O4 having been u.v. irradiated at 77°k under suitable conditions, present evidence for the formation of NO2 radical pairs in addition to isolated radicals. The resulting dipolar split E.S.R. spectrum mixes in with the spectrum of the isolated radical, thus giving rise to a rather complex spectrum. The spin pairs may be formed by simultaneous dissociation of two adjacent N2O4 molecules. Keywords
