Abstract
Calculations have been made on pair nuclei in order to obtain an effective interaction for the same shell of each pair. For the pair nuclei and and shells are considered, and for the pair nuclei and the shell is considered. It is shown that it is impossible to derive a unique effective interaction for the and shells due to insufficient information on the low-lying levels of . However, a Gaussian potential with range F and a nuclear force strength MeV gives information concerning the effective interaction for the pair nuclei and .
