Abstract
This is the first of 12 quarterly Army reports due over the next three years. The evaluation of the human dimensions of the New Manning System (NMS) speaks to two broad questions: (a) What are the effects of COHORT on soldiers and their units? and (b) What are the effects of COHORT on soldier families and communities? These are the vital questions the research addresses directly. Other issues are specific applications or variations: the effect of COHORT on battalion rotation; battalion reconstitution; unit climate and spouse adjustment; and the establishment of light infantry divisions. Keywords
