Abstract
Thirteen cases of acute rheumatic pericarditis in children are presented. The diagnostic pattern is discussed. The observation is made that the electric systole (QT interval) is shortened in all cases of pericarditis studied irrespective of the type and severity of the attack. The conclusion is made that a shortening of the duration of the QT interval during the course of active rheumatic carditis, in the absence of other factors (digitalis or salicylate therapy) known to shorten the duration of the QT interval, should always raise the suspicion of the presence of acute pericarditis. Keywords
