Transmission of a New Strain of Plasmodium cynomolgi to Man

Abstract
A strain of Plasmodium cynomolgi, isolated from Macaca irus in Cambodia, was transmitted to man by the bites of infected A. maculatus mosquitoes. This mosquito is indigenous to Southeast Asia. The infection produced clinical symptoms in the human volunteer, and the parasite was transmitted back to a monkey by the inoculation of parasitized blood.
