Abstract
Amniocentesis during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy for genetic diagnosis creates the potential for Rh sensitization secondary to fetomaternal bleeding. Administration of Rh-immune globulin after such amniocentesis is advised whenever the pregnancy may be Rh-incompatible. Of 56 patients who received Rh-immune globulin there was only 1 case of Rh sensitization, which occurred in a patient who underwent a 2nd amniocentesis 2 wk after the 1st attempt without receiving a 2nd dose of Rh-immune globulin. No developmental problems ascribed to Rh-immune globulin were detected. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
