Abstract
Preliminary data are presented on the impact of Patron Care, an innovative Australian approach to prevention and early intervention for alcohol‐related problems. The emergence over the past decade of a range of factors affecting the viability of hospitality operations has created a heightened readiness by the industry to participate in the Patron Care Program. The paper describes the range of interventions conducted with regard to policies relating to licensed premises, promotions, and training of managers and servers. Basic indicators of penetration and impact are presented and discussed.
