Abstract
A new formulation is presented for the thermodynamics of the massive Thirring model in the attractive-coupling regime. A certain controversy between previous theories is resolved and an overall understanding of the thermodynamics is reached. In particular, it is shown that the soliton mass is discontinuous with the coupling constant at finite temperatures. Keywords
