Developmental Changes on the Bender Gestalt Test

Abstract
117 public school children were given the group Bender Gestalt at kindergarten, Grade 2, and Grade 3. The protocols were scored with two objective scoring systems and a clinical check list. No significant differences in performance between boys and girls were found at any grade level. Improvement between grades was found for both scoring systems and on six of eight clinical check list items; the greatest change in performance occurred between kindergarten and Grade 2, with only minor improvement between second and third grades. These data tend to support the use of the group Bender as a measure of developmental differences during the kindergarten-primary grades.
