Abstract
A new substance, isolated from “Hinoki” oil, has been identified by synthesis as 2‐methyl‐5‐isopropenyl‐anisole. Lead tetraacetate oxidation of carvacryl methyl ether leads to attack on the methyl group ortho to the ether function rather than on the isopropyl group. Keywords
