Electroejaculation and evaluation of semen from the albino rat.

Abstract
A practical method of electroejaculating rats was devised by first removing the coagulating glands and then restraining the animals in a normal position before stimulation. Electrical stimuli were varied according to the animals'' reaction and ejaculation was obtained in every instance. Twenty-five animals were ejaculated 295 times during the experiment. Total sperm counts averaged 7,938,000 with a very wide individual ejaculate count ranging from 10,000 to 150 million. Packed sperm volume averaged .0232 ml and ranged from .001 to .07 ml. Percent motility averaged 50.4 and ranged from 0 to 98%. Abnormalities were observed and averaged 21.6% in all of the samples.
