Using Peer Groups in Nursing Education

Abstract
Peer group teaching can help prepare nursing students for the professional collaboration and team work they will encounter in professional life. The author cites studies that demonstrate the value of peer group techniques for reinforcing learning in educational settings. She reviews the scant literature on peer group learning in nursing education, and presents a peer group teaching learning strategy that she developed for a course in community health and psychiatric nursing. From the comments of the students and her observations of their professional performance, she concludes that the strategy works well and should be encouraged in other areas of nursing education.
