Abstract
The results of semi‐empirical LCAO calculations based on the extended Hückel theory are presented for trigonal tellurium model crystals with vacancies. It is shown that an empty gap‐level close to the valence band is associated with a vacancy. The migration of the vacancy takes place preferentially in the c‐direction. The double vacancy is less mobile than the single vacancy, for which the migration energy is of the order of several hundred meV. The results are compared with experimental findings. Keywords
