Calf Response to Starters of Varying Zinc Contents

Abstract
The additionof 100ppm of zinc to calf starters containing either sesame meal or soybean meal as protein sources did not affect feed consumption, growth, or apparent health of calves fed these feeds for 15 weeks. The basal starter containing soybean meal had 25 ppm of zinc while that with sesame meal contained 48 ppm. These levels of zinc appeared to be adequate to meet the requirements of the calves until 15 weeks of age.
