Abstract
Summary A strain of rabbit kidney cells, LLC-RK1, was developed and carried in serial passage for 5 years. It maintained a near-normal chromosome number and was found not to be transplantable to either young rabbits or suckling hamsters. It was highly susceptible to the herpes group of viruses and also supported the growth of vaccinia, SA-1, rubella, A-1 hepatitis, and RKV. It was insusceptible to the human enteroviruses, influenza and parainfluenza, measles, mumps, adenovirus, varicella, and vesicular stomatitis. Keywords
