Abstract
Consideration is given to dispersed systems in which the particle behavior is a function of systematic motion. The following phenomena governing the movement of the particles are analyzed from the channel entrance: convective effects, translation due to gravity, fluid drag, and circulation induced by the flow. External lateral forces and mutual particle interactions are not considered. Results are obtained for the magnitude and overall effects of the lateral force due to circulation around the particles. The analysis is closely related to the author’s measurements of the deposition of micron-size water droplets in adiabatic vertical flow. Keywords
