Delphi method and nominal group technique in family planning and reproductive health research

Abstract
This is the author's final draft, not as published in The Journal of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care, 2006, 32(4), pp.249-252Both the Delphi method and nominal group technique\ud offer structured, transparent and replicable ways of\ud synthesising individual judgements and have been used\ud extensively for priority setting and guideline development\ud in health-related research including reproductive\ud health. Within evidence-based practice they provide a\ud means of collating expert opinion where little evidence\ud exists. They are distinct from many other methods\ud because they incorporate both qualitative and quantitative\ud approaches. Both methods are inherently flexible; this\ud article also discusses other strengths and weaknesses of\ud these methods
