Abstract

Results from a study of the

{}^{9}{Be}

(

t

,

α

) reaction with 17-MeV polarized tritons, as well as an analysis of earlier results, lead to an assignment of

J^{π} = 4^{+}

for

{}^{8}{Li}

* (6.53).
