Abstract
A discussion of the indications, administration and results achieved in Italy in the use of penicillin for treatment of soft-tissue wounds, chest wounds, open fractures, knee-joint wounds, amputations, gas gangrene, penetrating wounds of abdomen, head wounds, maxillo-facial wounds, eye wounds, and burns. Penicillin was administered intraven., intramusc., or applied in a lanette cream (25% lanette wax in water), or as a penicillin-sulfathiazole powder (5000 units per g. of sulfathiazole) as indicated by the injury.
