Abstract
The strain rate dependence of the flow stress in cadmium crystals of 99.9 and 99.9999% purity tested in tension at 77° K has been investigated. A Cottrell–Stokes Δτ–τ relationship is fairly closely followed, with a change in slope at a stress corresponding to the end of the linear region of glide. The change in slope is much less pronounced in the lower-purity material. Keywords
