Multiple Scattering Amplitude of the Ionization by Charged Particles in the Intermediate Energy Region

Abstract
A consistent formulation based on an integral representation of the Coulomb partial waves is given for the scattering amplitude of the ionization process by any charged particle in the Glauber approximation. As an example, the total cross section is evaluated for the ionization of atomic hydrogen by electron impact. It is found that our calculated values are in fairly good agreement with experimental results in the intermediate energy region where the Born approximation is found to fail.
