Abstract
The tetramethylammonium perfluoro-octanoate + water system forms a lamellar liquid crystalline phase at room temperature. The stability of this phase with respect to temperature and composition has been investigated and structural parameters have been measured for several samples. The lamellar phase is shown to be of the single-layered lamellar type. Samples up to 0.5 mm thick were successfully oriented by shearing between calcium fluoride plates. Keywords
